Mark Organ, Co-founder, President and CEO, 1999- 01/2007

Mark Organ co-founded Eloqua in 1999 and served as CEO from the company’s founding until he left the company in January of 2007. Under his leadership, Eloqua built a strong culture of uncompromising customer success and employee growth. This culture drove significant corporate milestone attainment, including:

  • Market leadership in the Demand Generation software space that it defined
  • Three years of profitability and positive cash flow before raising institutional venture capital, while growing over 100% per year
  • A global operation with over 150 employees and over 250 customers operating around the world.

A respected thought leader, Organ’s vision of the evolution of the business-to-business marketing organization has been one of Eloqua’s most important success drivers. This vision was inspired by his experience in corporate strategy consulting at Bain & Company, where he first observed that the application of process, measurement and analysis in many areas of modern business was rarely embraced by marketing. Championed by Organ, the notion that marketers can apply quantitative analytics and factory thinking to stimulate market demand, which later blossomed into a distinct marketing discipline called demand generation. Today, demand generation continues to gain adherents across a variety of industries, because of the principles, practices and technologies that he introduced.

A prolific writer on the subject of demand generation effectiveness, Organ has been quoted in numerous business publications and journals. He is a member of the Young Presidents' Organization (YPO) and sits on the Board of Governors for the Information Technology Association of Canada (ITAC). He was and continues to be a regular speaker at industry events, including the Direct Marketing Association and American Management Association.

Mark holds a M.S. in Neurosciences from Northwestern University, Evanston, IL, and a B.Sc. (Honours) in Life Sciences from Queen’s University, Kingston, Canada.
